I once heard that “an artist is always painting.” For me, this is true. I see the world through the lens of how I might paint it, using art to express the beauty I find around me.
Influenced by both the masters and contemporary artists, my work ranges from impressionistic to realistic, often with the playfulness of children’s book illustration woven throughout.
I typically begin with a small value study to establish composition and capture an idea's original spark. I carry that study into the finished work rather than relying solely on a photograph, which helps the painting stay fresh and intuitive.
Whether working in the spontaneity and translucency of watercolor or the texture and scale of oil, my work shares a distinctive visual language. When riding my horse or hiking the mountains of the Southwest, I am constantly inspired to create. Drawing and painting are my language—a way to give physical form to what I see, feel, and experience.
